INSTRUMENTS SUPPORTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF SMART SPECIALISATIONS IN THE PODLASKIE VOIVODESHIP AND THEIR IMPACT ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE SME SECTOR

Summary/Abstract: Purpose – The aim of the article is to indicate the instruments supporting the de-velopment of smart specializations in the Podlaskie Voivodeship and their impact on thedevelopment of the SME sector.Research method – The article is based on secondary sources of information, mainlyfrom the statistical studies on the Development Strategy of the Podlaskie Voivodeship andthe Entrepreneurship Development Plan, based on the smart specializations of the PodlaskieVoivodeship for the years 2015–2020+ and on the Report on the evaluation of support forPodlaskie smart specializations. The results of the primary research conducted in 2023 werealso used for the analysis. The chi­‑squared method was used to analyze the research material.Results – According to the conducted research, the identified instruments supportingthe development of smart specializations in the Podlaskie Voivodeship affect the develop-ment of enterprises from the SME sector.Originality/value/implications/recommendations – Instruments supporting the devel-opment of smart specializations have a positive impact on the development of enter­ prisesunderstood as an increase in revenues, profits and the implementation of new products/services to the offer. The results of the study clearly indicate a relationship between the useof instruments supporting smart specializations and the development of the enterprise.
