Summary/Abstract: After the election of an IOC member from Poland, Prof. Jerzy Loth, the communist authorities made unsuccessful attempts to replace him with “their” people. Włodzimierz Reczek adopted a completely different approach when, in 1952, he headed the Main Committee of Physical Culture and the Polish Olympic Committee. Although the issue of changing the IOC member from Poland was important, as it was part of the Kremlin’s plan of action towards the IOC, Reczek seemingly gave up trying to make this change. Reczek’s tactics brought the results desired by the communists. In 1961, prof. Loth was replaced by Reczek in the IOC.
