Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the People’s Republic of Poland’s position towards the Western Sahara conflict and the activities of the Polisario Front in the context of political and economic relations with Morocco and Algeria, and in relation to the position of the USSR. The main determinants of Polish policy towards the conflict are analysed, indicating the dominant role of economic factors in shaping the Polish United Workers’ Party leadership strategy.
