Summary/Abstract: The article presents the results of two research projects dedicated to the issuesof poverty and energy poverty. Its aim was to determine the situation of residentsand beneficiaries of social assistance centers living in rural areas in the Masovian Voivodeshipin the context of the interplay of the studied phenomena. Energy poverty represents a newdimension of rural poverty, which should be perceived not only as an aspect of incomepoverty but also as a distinct dimension of deprivation. This draws attention to the fact thatthe issues of poverty and energy poverty are inseparable. In Mazowsze, there is an overlapof income poverty and energy poverty phenomena. People who are not poor are also atrisk of energy poverty, while the poor belong to the group most at risk.
