Summary/Abstract: The question of how people react to the presence of imperfection intersects numerous constructs within contemporary psychology, and has an important role in mental functioning. There are still no conceptual frameworks or constructs, however, aimed specifically at the attitude towards imperfection – in its positive and negative aspects, or according to its prevalence in different existential contexts. In view of these tendencies, the present article attempts to examine the concept of wabi-sabi as a potential alternative to the existing approaches within the empirical literature that is inspired by the nondual aspects of Japanese philosophical and creative tradition.
