Summary/Abstract: Guaranteeing legal protection in the work environment is both an institutional and social obligation. Working relationships in terms of the relationships they regulate require the commitment of all the actors involved in them. The legal protection system aims to regulate rights and obligations guaranteeing gender equality in the work environment. Albania has made progress in legislation that regulates equality at work and the prevention of discrimination, especially through the Law on Gender Equality and the Law on Protection from Discrimination. However, the implementation of these laws still remains challenging in practice, especially in the part that has to do with gender discrimination in the work environment and institutional intervention in ascertaining these cases. The article analyzes the legal framework that guarantees the rights of employees in the work environment and the standards of equality and non-discrimination. The analysis of the activity of the CPD (Commissioner for the Protection from Discrimination) in ascertaining and evaluating the cases of gender discrimination in the workplace and the jurisprudence developed in this direction, conveys the achievements in the implementation of the legal framework and in guaranteeing the institutional standards for the empowerment of women and girls in this environment
