Summary/Abstract: The article contains an analysis of Masłowska’s novel together with an attempt to place it in the context of contemporary self-consciousness prose. The main theme of the article is related to the question of language, which conveys severe critique of modern reality. The article points out orality and musical composition styling in Paw królowej (the novel is based on the model of a hip-hop song) as well as their meaning in this kind of text construction. It also aims to address the question of new type of fiction, which appears most often in so-called non-epic model of prose, as well as the question of new type of subject which is at the same time speaker and the object of speech. Following Umberto Eco’s theory the differentiation between Critical and Naïve Reader is introduced, and as a result the expanse of meta textual operations is broaden on reader’s competence. The determinants of postmodern character of the analyzed novel are summarized as a conclusion.
