Summary/Abstract: The starting point is to present Takeshi Kitano's work in relation to works of Yasujiro Ozu and Akira Kurosawa to demonstrate the similarity of content and continuity in presenting the specifics of Japan's changes. The next step is an attempt to set the horizon of axiological considerations to relate these findings to the analysis of the landscape in selected films. The article aims to demonstrate that the process of Americanization of Japan and the departure from traditional values, as discussed in Ozu's dramas and Kurosawa's samurai films, are reflected in the landscapes of Kitano's works.
