Summary/Abstract: It is widely known that huge numbers of Polish population were deported to Siberia for political reasons for several centuries. The experience of the deportation – both for the deportees and their descendants as well as the entire Polish society – is an important facet of Polish cultural identity. This article focuses on the accounts of the deportees and how they verbalise their experience. The research material was excerpted from interviews with Polish deportees who were exiled to Taiynsha, Kazakhstan, in the 1936–1938. The respondents don’t use negative connotated words to describe the perpetrators but instead express their gratitude towards God and people who have helped them to survive.
