Summary/Abstract: In recent months we observe dynamic changes, so that government, academia and the public face situations in which there are no established mechanisms for response and understanding of the problems of the refugees in Bulgaria. Until recently the Afghan refugees were the “silent” and “invisible” refugees. Because of the military conflict in Syria and the asylum seekers entering the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria, the refugees become both “visible” and “borderline”. Different meanings are layered to their images, often imposed by the hierarchical structures of the formal power of the nation state. The paper presents an analysis of the behaviors on the boundary between “here” and “there”, the boundary between the situation of non-status and behaviors that make up the strategy for obtaining a status from a group of refugees from Afghanistan who fall into the category unaccompanied underage refugee.
