Summary/Abstract: The sources that talk about the life and creativity of the scribecalligraphers of Azerbaijan, who lived and created in the Middle Ages, are of great importance. Tazkiras have a special place among these sources. In addition to giving information about the life and creativity of the individual persons – poets, writers, saints, murshids, scientists, various artists, etc., according to their themes, the tazkiras are also the carriers of precious information and facts about the historical, social-political, economic, religious-ideological conditions, the science, literature and culture of the relevant period. Tazkiras are the embryos of the textual studies. One of the tazkiras, which talks about the life and creativity of the scribes and calligraphers who lived and created in the Eastern world, including the historical territory of Azerbaijan, is "The Book of the Examination of Scholars" by the 19th -century Iranian author Mirza Sanglakh. This work is mainly known as "Tazkiratul-khattatin" – "The tazkira about the calligraphers".
