Summary/Abstract: The issue addressed in this paper concerns an attempt to highlight the educational perils of the /non/democratic way in which power is exercised, mainly by the state, but partly also by the technological and cybernetic. The essential aim of this article, therefore, is to critique and demarcate the de facto ill or sometimes even pathological actions of the authorities. We also draw attention here to the fact that such functioning of power systems often results in evident losses in terms of shaping a particular value system, behaviour, or attitudes of individuals and wider social groups, both at the micro and macro scales. In doing so, we also seek to highlight the increasingly prominent cases of covert and manip- ulative societal governance, even in nominal democratic systems. The conclusions arising from this type of narrative are related to both the intention to increase knowledge in this area and the hope for a preventive activity of society to prevent or eliminate such dehu- manising processes of social education.
