In search of the essence of school pedagogy

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to reconstruct the problem area of school pedagogy and to make an attempt to isolate the process of its constitution. An overview and recognition of the genesis of this subdiscipline, which in Poland in rooted in the achievements of Ger- man school pedagogy, constitutes the article’s important foundation. the article also draws attention to the phenomenon of “interrupted developmental path” in Poland’s school ped- agogy, while attempting to recreate the achievements of the subdiscipline, which was first undertaken in 2013 by prof. Maria Dudzikowa, and then since 2020 continued by prof. Mirosław J. Szymański and the School Pedagogy Section at the KNP PAN. The reconstruc- tion of the scientific discourse is intended not only to problematise the framework, but also to strengthen the identity of school pedagogy on Polish ground.
