Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with the question of the current staffing of the social work profession in the Czech Republic. The theoretical concept used in this paper is based on the conceptualization of the social work profession from the perspective of social constructivism. Specifically, the number of social workers in the Czech Republic, the areas in which they are employed according to their competencies in the various government departments, and more specifically according to their positions in the public administration were surveyed. The results of secondary analysis of statistical data, extensive analysis of legislation and literature will be presented, which may contribute to the construction of one part of the picture of the perception of social work as a profession in the Czech Republic.
