Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to point out the complex genre structure of Kulundžić’s “mystical novella” Lunar, created in the context of avant-garde literature from the beginning of the 20th century. The paper analyzes the genres included in Kulundžić’s confusione dei generi (a combination of essayistic and philosophical discourse, with elements of a fairy tale and a bildungsroman), which are used to highlight spiritual values as the most relevant ones, not only in an existential, but also in a poetic sense. The paper also discusses the consequences of genre polyphony, which influenced critics’ objections, as well as a modest reception of the Kulundžić’s literary experiment.
