Summary/Abstract: The internet and social media are among the indispensable things of today's people. With the widespread use of the internet, activities such as accessing information, communication and entertainment have increased. In addition, with the spread of social media platforms where people can actively participate, these activities have taken their place on these platforms. With the increase in social media use, the concept of social media addiction has come to the fore. The effects of social media use and addiction, especially on children and young people, are a matter of debate. In this context, various studies are being conducted in different scientific disciplines. In particular, the relationships between students' academic performance and social media use are being investigated in terms of various countries and student groups. The aim of this study is to provide information and make suggestions about students' social media use and social media addiction. According to the results of the literature review, it has been seen that social media use and addiction is a dynamic field of study. In fact, different results are obtained in different samples. In addition, social media platforms are constantly developing content in order to maintain and increase their user numbers. For this reason, it would be useful to increase studies on social media and to examine them especially in terms of different disciplines of science.
