Summary/Abstract: This paper contains reposrt of "The deceased of the interwar period now tangible for research." The Vienna City and Provincial Archives have completed an important digitization project: The recording of deceased persons of the interwar period. The responsible city councillor Veronica Kaup-Hasler explains: “The period between the two world wars was marked by a series of major economic as well as political crises. Poverty, disease and increasing violence characterized society at the time and can also be found in the historical sources of the period. The Vienna City and Provincial Archives have created over half a million records on people who died in Vienna during the interwar period. For example, the dead of the Palace of Justice fi re can be traced, as can the Jews who died in 1938. I congratulate the employees of MA8 on this outstanding achievement.”
