Summary/Abstract: Family is one of the oldest institutions of society. It has been arousing interest of spiritual teachers, philosophers, theologians, psychologists, lawyers, scientists of education and specialists of other fields. Family is a key concern and hope of society and every human being. It is one of the most intimate, stable, reliable and effective education links of individual education, morality, culture, spirituality and establishment and preservation of nation identity. Family is a guarantee for a continuity of the human race as well as an important protector of common human values and a creator of harmony of the world. Thus, family is a value both from societal and metaphysical perspectives. However, to describe the meaning of family it is not sufficient to refer to the union between man and woman that includes marriage, children, blood relations, life under a single roof, common savings, etc. Spiritual factor is the main factor forming and sustaining family. God created man in his own image and called him into being out of love as well as to love. Thus, love is the source of spiritual life and a natural vocation of every man. God is love and he experiences a love secret of personal intercourse. Creating man in his own image and continuously maintaining him in being God gives man and woman vocation to love, feel responsibility for their love and for their love-based family. Human being as an incarnated spirit that expresses itself through body and as a body shaped by a spirit is called to love as the entirety. Love as the spiritual basis encompasses human body and the body is present in spiritual love. In this meaning man and woman gives themselves to each other in a marriage and it is not only legitimation of biological phenomenon but rather revelation of the deepest essence of human being. Physical commitment would be hypocritical if there were no complete commitment. Complete commitment due to its spiritual nature completely surpasses biological phenomenon and becomes reflection of divine Love. Family has to seek for the “beginning” of God‘s creative act if it desires to cognize and realize itself in accordance with the inner truth of its being as well as its historic activity. Family is created as a community of life and love in accordance with God’s plans and thus, due to its vocation it has to become a messenger of God’s love for the world. This perspective allows noticing that love reveals the essence and tasks of family completely. Thus, the mission of family is to perceive its spiritual basis and live with respect to this spirituality. In other words, family has to preserve, express and transfer love that is alive reflection of God’s love for humankind. Without love family is not a community of members. Without love it cannot develop as a community of members. Man cannot live without love. He has to communicate with love in an alive manner and make it a part of his life.
