Summary/Abstract: The prevention and sanctioning of unfair commercial practices occupies an important place in European consumer protection policy. The fairness of commercial practices is assessed through the abstract generalized figure of the average consumer. The dynamics and evolution in the understanding of the nature and dimensions of the average consumer is explored in the interpretive practice of the CJEU.
