Summary/Abstract: This article commemorates the life and contributions of two prominent figures in Slovak linguistics: doc. PhDr. Ladislav Bartko and RNDr. Radovan Garabík. Ladislav Bartko, a language scholar and educator, studied Slovak language at the Faculty of Education in Prešov and taught at various institutions, including the University of Prešov, focusing on the development and history of the Slovak language, dialectology, language culture, and rhetoric. After retirement, he continued to lecture at several universities. Radovan Garabík, a computer and corpus linguist, studied at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Comenius University in Bratislava and contributed to the establishment of the Slovak National Corpus. His work involves computational processing of natural language and corpus linguistics, co-authoring several publications based on statistical analyses of contemporary Slovak text corpora.
