Summary/Abstract: The bust of Lieutenant-Commander Petre Demetriade (1868-1907), the founder of the Danube Flotilla, who died prematurely at only 39 years old, disappeared following the Soviet occupation in the fall of 1944, deserves and must be replaced in Galați, where it had been unveiled by his comrades, on October 25, 1909, as an eternal and pious tribute of admiration and gratitude.
