Summary/Abstract: The paper provides a brief insight into the evolutionary path of Bosniak drama, with a special interest in the interwar period. However, the work is primarily focused on the dramatic text "Žrtve tradicije" by Derviš Imamović, which actually belongs to a group of his texts from the beginning of his writing career that have been preserved to this day. Although this drama is based on traditional settings and on a "clichéd melodramatic plot" about two unhappily in love, with noticeable influences of folk plays and folklore melodrama, it is not only a text of a love character, but it is a kind of Imamović's criticism of the patriarchal pattern of living and those social currents that strictly and blindly, often irrationally, they strive to preserve the multitude of traditional values that are often an insurmountable obstacle for young people in the "new time" and their identity self-search and self-determination.
