Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to identify the directions in which Singapore’s housing policy was heading to meet the housing needs of citizens. The article describes a case study of a country with a very limited land supply and indicates the success factors that contributed to improving the housing situation. The discussed example confirms the assumptions about the high diversity of the housing problem and effective methods of solving it despite it. This is a specific model that functions well in given institutional and economic environment. The Singaporean example shows that it is impossible to implement large housing programs without the economic success of the entire economy. However, in addition to economic growth, a consistent, longterm and properly targeted housing policy and the entire regulatory environment are needed. In the case of specific countries, increased state participation in the operation of the housing sector is necessary.
