Summary/Abstract: The article offers a comparative analysis of the regulation related to the right of asylum in Byzantium and in Bulgaria. The texts of the Ecloga and the Zakon soydnii ludem are compared and analyzed. The differences are located in the different historical environment of the iconoclastic and post-iconoclastic eras.
