Summary/Abstract: This article explores the genealogy of science theatre, passing through interdisciplinary initiatives, performance lectures and research as an artistic practice. In an attempt to define this form of theatre, which is an intersection between science and live performance art, existing definitions and manifestations are observed, summarised, and further developed from the perspective of science communication and theatre studies.
