Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the main thematic, content, and stylistic features of feature films from Krešo Golik's most fruitful creative period, the one from 1968 to 1978, during which the films Imam 2 mame i 2 tate (I Have Two Mothers and Two Fathers, 1968), Tko pjeva zlo ne misli (One Song a Day Takes Mischief Away, 1970), Živjeti od ljubavi (To Live on Love, 1973), Razmeđa (Borders, 1973), Pucanj (A Shot, 1977), and Ljubica (Ljubica, 1978) were created. The mentioned films are paradigms of the author's most significant qualities: interesting and transparent plots in which modernist interventions are never an end in of themselves, but are a decently and meaningfully implemented means, as well as the warmth and accessibility of characters with whom viewers can easily identify, whose plausibility was significantly contributed by the director's legendary feel for working with the actors, and the suggestive atmosphere and authenticity of the ambiences. Displaying his directorial prowess in different genres, Golik regularly found ways to gently sneer at people, but at the same time to not in the least bring in question his personal interest in their destinies, often filled with pent-up anxieties in the routine of life. Thanks, among other things, to this, he created an oeuvre that represents a rare combination of populism and quality, i.e., artistic value and commercial echoes.
