Summary/Abstract: Based on a testimony regarding the economic reality of Ecuador and the need to prompt debate on the most strategic elements of President Daniel Noboa's urgent economic bill, from a perspective of political economy, power groups, and hegemony, a reflection emerges on academia and its relevance in sparking debate on the country's political situation. However, the format of the paper as a unit of theoretical analysis originating from academia, due to its rigidity and tendency towards hermeneutics, appears disconnected from the discussion of societal issues. Thus, an academia detached from society is generated, solely introspective in a narcissistic exercise that alienates it from its own history
