Curiosity – the first step to hell or to the ascent of man? The linguistic image of curiosity in the Polish language

Summary/Abstract: This article aims to reconstruct an image of curiosity which is established in the Polish language, using the methods of the contemporary theory of the linguistic image of the world. The author shows curiosity as a psychological problem to later demonstrate how important it is and what a major role it plays in people’s lives. By analysing conventionalised linguistic facts, the author reconstructs semantic components, including phases of the process in which emotions emerge, types of curiosity, their evaluation and the interrelations between their semantic features. The article also points to the narration related to the image of curiosity
