Summary/Abstract: The beginning of the 20th century brought with it a less popular and at that time far less developed method of international and domestic influence. This is the method of the so-called „soft power”, which in 1977 the American political scientist Joseph Nye, in co-authorship with Robert Keohane, developed in their book „Power and Interdependence”. This method has undergone a number of improvements over the years, becoming one of the most powerful weapons of US influence. The present study examines precisely one of these most prominent representatives of soft power in the modern world - the American film industry. As proof of the power of American cinema, the current work gives an example of Bulgaria, one of the relatively newly rejoined countries in the European Union.
