Summary/Abstract: The article is part of the research area of historical pedeutology. Thepurpose of the presented text is to reconstruct the pedeutologicalconcept entitled A good teacher in light of the statements made byschool youth written by Jadwiga Zaleska. The project was initiatedat Kazimierz Sośnicki’s pedagogical seminar. The main subject of theresearch is the question of what makes a good teacher, the search forhis characteristics and conditions for pedagogical activity. The mainmethod of research was the historical and pedagogical analysis of ar-chival and printed sources of the aforementioned subject of research.The first part of the text contains an outlined biography of JadwigaZaleska, including her educational path and pedagogical studies atthe Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. It also provided infor-mation about her pedagogical activity. The second part of the textpresented the methodological assumptions of research on the subjectof “a good teacher” from Jadwiga Zalewska’s point of view and in terms of research results, which were used to create a profile ofa good teacher. From these studies a vision emerged of a teacher per-ceived mainly from a normative perspective. Lastly, the concluding re-marks indicated the topicality of the assumptions of Jadwiga Zaleska’sproject dedicated to the search for characteristic of a good teacherand the methodological correctness of its implementation.
