Possibilities and Limitations of Digital Tools in Research on Axiologically Marked Vocabulary (on the Example of the Verb gorszyć)

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to compare the results of analyzes carried out using tools in the field of digital linguistics with the conclusions drawn in the course of traditional material development. The subject of the research is the axiologically marked verb gorszyć. The material extracted from the MoncoPL corpus was subjected to automatic analysis leading to the acquisition of: collocations, a frequency list of the words used, a list of key words, a list of the most common sources of origin of sentences, information on the frequency of use of the verb in particular years; it was also subjected to thematic modeling. The obtained results allowed to some extent to answer the questions about the features of the use of the verb gorszyć, but only the independent development of the material brought significant clarifications in this regard.
