Summary/Abstract: Family is one of the most important topics in rap music. It is an important element of the stories told by rappers, often inspired by their own life experience. In her analysis, the author focused on finding answers to the following questions: What image of family do rappers evoke when referring to the relationships established by its members, the presence of parents/guardians, family values and difficulties? What is the significance of rappers’ reflections on family in the perspective of biographical learning theory? In what sense do the stories told by rappers fit into storytelling? The conclusions and reflections from the research show that the image of family evoked by rappers has two different sides: 1) concerning the past – it refers to the period of childhood and adolescence, it is filled with loneliness and pain due to the lack of a properly functioning family in which the artists could find support and love; 2) concerning the present – it is a family that they build on their own with faith and hope in the future, in which they experience closeness, security, and support for healthy relationships built on these foundations.
