Summary/Abstract: This overview study deals with the possibilities of the application of theatrical principles and procedures in educational, special educational, and therapeutic intervention for disadvantaged individuals or those in a stressful situation. Theatrical procedures and techniques hide a great potential that can be utilized to help these people in their socialization and destigmatization and create an inclusive environment. The author defines the main paratheatrical systems (specifically drama therapy, theatre therapy, and theatre in education) which use the theatrical art for purposes other than art. Within the framework of the individual components of these systems, she lists the benefits and goals related to disadvantaged individuals and their social environment. There are several theatre companies working with marginalized groups in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, and these may illustrate the benefits of theatre therapy in special educational and therapeutic practice. Theatre in education is presented using the Forum Theatre technique, which enables students to build social skills and gain courage to deal with stressful situations
