Summary/Abstract: The authors consider the possibility of conducting in-depth reflection on the phenomenon of the archive. They consider the potential existence of a theology, philo- sophy or metaphysics of archives. They observe that the starting point for such a view of archives is archival sensitivity, one of the three conditions of being an archivist, alongside knowledge and skills. Archival sensitivity is most clearly manifested when noticing the fact that archives are disappearing. Deepening the archival perspective allows us to liberate ourselves from an exclusively technical approach to archival work and supports the deve- lopment of the professional ethos of archivists. The authors propose a research program that includes tracing archival or memory threads in various religions and value systems charac- teristic of numerous cultures and religions, both past and present. They also predict a search for inspiration and support in all areas of scientific thinking – anthropological, historical, sociological, philosophical and theological, referring to the category of memory in their considerations and description of reality.
