Summary/Abstract: Every universe needs a realm of transcendence that maintains the world in the necessary balance. In archival science, metaphysics reaches back to the sources, to the birth of the archive as a result of archival selection. Dealing with it therefore requires an ap- propriate dose of spirituality accompanying the life of the archive. In this context, archives become temples of memory, and their custodians are priests who interact with archives act- ing as sacred artefacts containing priceless content. As people restoring order to the world of the Creator, they stand on the front line in the fight against the forces of chaos and de- cay. The author’s considerations attempt to answer the following questions: In the archival realm, can we talk about existence beyond the limits of human cognition? How can this spirituality be described if it cannot be known? What does this mean for archival science?
