Summary/Abstract: This article presents the incidence of tuberculosis (TB) in the German armedforces from 1914 (outbreak of World War) to 1935 (restoration of universal conscriptionin Germany). The main aim of the study is to determine the factors that affected thescale of tuberculosis in the German armed forces between 1914 and 1935. In addition,attention is paid to the question of the attitude of military authorities towards tuberculo-sis both during the Great War and in the interwar period. Finally, issues connected withthe prevention and treatment of tuberculosis in the armed forces are addressed. Officialsummaries of the health status of the German army during the Great War and the post-war era, as well as laws, were used as the basis for this work.
