Summary/Abstract: Matthias Brinkmann defends the right to roam. The purpose of this article is to analyze the right to roam as presented by Matthias Brinkmann. What is this right? In a nutshell, it is the “right” to trespass onto other people’s property. Brinkmann supports this practice from a “left-liberal” point of view. This paper critiques both the so-called right to roam and the political-economic philosophy underpinning Brinkmann’s defense of it. The goal is to defend the institution of private property rights against its critique represented by the right to roam argument.
