THE BEGINNINGS AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE DIDACTICS OF HISTORY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WROCŁAW (1945–1989)

Summary/Abstract: The text presents the stages of development of Polish history didactics at theUniversity of Wrocław. Its informal beginnings were connected with the activity of EwaMaleczyńska, engaged in the training of future teachers. The circumstances of the estab-lishment of the Department of History Didactics were described. Then, first employees ofthe Department – Karol Fiedor, Romuald Gelles, Grażyna Pańko, and Danuta Matwijows-ka – were characterised and their research interests were presented. Attention was paid tothe set of subjects they taught for the teaching specialisation, as well as the additionalclasses they undertook to popularise history.
