Summary/Abstract: Emic theories constitute a precious treasure for a cultural economic sociology. Simon Kordonskiy's work has barely been noticed outside of Russia - unjustly, as his writing must be of interest to western institutional economists, economic sociologists, and anthropologists. From Kordonskiy's insights, we can conclude that corrupt practices in Russia are not a defect in the system - they are an inherent part of Russia's economy and society. Accordingly, he holds a drastically pessimist view of the effec- tiveness of anticorruption policies there, and calls it a fight against the system itself.
