Summary/Abstract: In 2012, the Romanian Government proposed a draft law to hold local public administration elections on the same date as the elections for the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, aiming to adjust budgetary expenditures. This decision led to a constitutional challenge by 146 MPs, who questioned the law's constitutionality. The Constitutional Court was asked to review the law, which amended several existing laws related to local and national elections, including Law No. 35/2008, Law No. 67/2004, Law No. 215/2001, and Law No. 393/2004.
