Summary/Abstract: Baltic-Nordic Co-operation. This paper examines the development of Baltic regional co-operation. The Baltic States since the first days of their independence have tried to establish stable contact with their Scandinavian neighbours. The Baltic States used the Nordic institutions as a model for establishment of their own bodies of regional co-operation. The Nordic States have been providing a wide range of support to the Baltic Three, in the field of politics, economy, security, environment, education and training. There are a number of bilateral contacts between the countries, of so called, formula “5+3”, from 2000 NB8. Both groups have their own preferences and parties they are interested in. The Nordic States are not only supporters, but also play they role of advocates of the Baltic States in the international arena. Nordic members of the EU did not deny that they would do their best to ensure that the Baltic States would be treated as equal partner along with the other associated countries and that they would not be pushed into a second division.
