Summary/Abstract: The article aims to provide a juxtaposed picture of metaphysics in theEncyclopedia Britannica which seems to be a conundrum. Althoughthis topic is almost unknown and unexplored hitherto, this encyclopedia has undoubtedly been stimulating intellectual development, starting from Edinburgh in the middle of the 18th century in Scotland, untiltoday all around the world. Metaphysics in almost every edition has adifferent author and presents a concrete womb of philosophical affiliation. In sum, there are merely seven originally written articles on Metaphysics out of fifteen editions. After demonstrating definitions ofmetaphysics, we unveil its adequate subject, method, and purpose.
