Analysis of the image of „Wanxia“, a character from the Opera „The long march“

Summary/Abstract: The opera “The Long March” is a large masterpiece, produced in detail in 2016 by the National Center for Scenic Arts, with purpose of celebration of the 80 years anniversary from the victory of the Long March of the Chinese Labour-Peasant Red Army. The piece is created by the team of the famous composers Ying Qing and Zou Jinzhi. It is based on real events from the time of the Long March. This article offers a deep interpretation of the “Spirit of the Long March”, using the dramatic performance as a theoretical foundation, and focuses on the analysis of the specific situation and characterization of “Wanxia”’s role in the opera.
