Summary/Abstract: The article examines the essential characteristics of Ukraine’s national security, its components, features, and priorities in the context of global security. Challenges to Ukraine’s national security since the declaration of independence (1991), the main one – the war with the russia in various forms, and domestic and foreign policy mistakes that deprived Ukraine of the military power it inherited after the collapse of the USSR are analyzed.
