Sustainable Human Resources Management in Polish enterprises

Summary/Abstract: ObjectivesThe purpose of this article is to determine the level of application of sustainable human resource management practices in Polish companies.Material and methodsThe research was conducted on a nationwide sample of 231 companies using a survey questionnaire covering five dimensions: social, psychological-ethical, environmental, economic, and strategic. The survey covered small, medium, and large enterprises.ResultsThe results obtained indicate that sustainable human resource management practices are applied in the surveyed companies in all the highlighted dimensions. However, the level to which they are applied varies depending on the size of the enterprise. The differentiation concerns the environmental, economic, and strategic dimensions. The effect of the level of implementation of the psychological-ethical dimension on the strategic dimension in small and large enterprises as well as of the social and ecological dimension in medium-sized enterprises was identified.ConclusionsThe adopted hypotheses regarding the differentiation of the scope of activities in the various dimensions of sustainable human resource management by company size and the impact of these activities in the social, psychological-ethical, environmental, and economic dimensions on the strategic dimension were partially confirmed. The results of the research indicate to companies the areas in need of intensified actions for sustainable management of human resources.
