Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to analyse scientific research and publications on the musical interpretation of Ukrainian classical poetry in the works of pop artists. The research methodology. Analytical and retrospective methods, as well as the method of comparative analysis, were used to structure the theoretical and methodological base. Since the topic of research covers issues of both musicology and literature, an interdisciplinary approach was used. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the definition of interpretation as a phenomenon that contributes to the organic synthesis of musical and verbal art, gives a direct impact on the musical interpretation of poetic texts by classics, the creativity of academic and pop composers and performers. Conclusions. The article noted the actual increase in the number of musical interpretations of poetic texts by Ukrainian classics. The consideration of scientific works that constitute the theoretical basis for the comprehensive study of the relevant songs and compositions, was carried out. Research directions are divided into the study of: general features of interpretation as a phenomenon (O. Afonina, O. Benziuk, P. Ivanyshyn, O. Kolesnyk, S. Sadovenko); problems of music and literature synthesis (O. Frait, I. Ivanova, A. Mizitova, I. Vezhnevets, O. Zinkevych); musical interpretation (O. Domashchenko, M. Heichenko, V. Ivanova, O. Katrych, V. Kulikova, V. Moskalenko, O. Oleksiuk, V. Panasiuk, V. Soloviov); interpretation of texts, their semantics, in particular, through the prism of inner musicality (M. Naienko, Z. Pakholok, I. Shchukina, G. Siuta); works of academic and pop composers and performers-interpreters of the poetry of the classics (H. Filatova, O. Frait, H. Karas, N. Koroliuk, V. Stepurko, I. Shturmak). Musical Shevchenkiana is relatively covered in the scientific discourse, but, for the most part, only in the realm of academic music (the same name publication from the funds of the National V. I. Vernadskyi Library of Ukraine, 2020; the book “Musical Shevchenkiana” by M. Hulkovskyi, 2023). Except for few articles, the source base on the works of pop artists in the context of the interpretation of poetry by the classics only consists of the interviews, publications from the websites, blogs, and pages of social networks of the performers.
