Summary/Abstract: Changes in the music curriculum at the pre-university level in 2017 following globalisation and ICT developments have led to the need for research into the current status of the music technologies practice. In addition, the positive impact of information and communication technologies in the pandemic period on education by ensuring its continuity confirms the importance of knowledge and efficient use of available technologies. This analysis describes the current use of ICT in music education in Romanian schools, making recommendations for further integration. More specifically, our study reports on implementing the three software mentioned in the school curricula of disciplines: Music Theory and Music Education, respectively, since 2017. This research is a descriptive, cross-cutting one in which we have used mixed methods, namely a questionnaire with closed questions analysed quantitatively as well as open questions analysed based on content. The results underline the importance of reviewing ongoing teacher training to keep up-to-date with innovative technologies and equip with the skills and knowledge needed to use them in the classroom. It also stresses the need to introduce them as a matter of study into the training of all future music teachers. Further research is recommended to compare musical education practices on an intercultural level and to identify ways to maximise the benefits of technological innovation for music educators.
