Summary/Abstract: The present study aimed at verifying an inductive teaching strategy through which the specific concepts of music theory are formed starting from examples and practical activities of composing digital music through computer programming. In this sense, 25 students from the 4th grade carried out programming activities within the compulsory subject responsible with music education, through an educational project implemented over a period of 24 weeks. The score transformation of some musical works from the cultural heritage or children’s repertoire into digital audio products, with the help of the Sonic Pi application, represents a practice model for the digitalisation of the didactic process. The good results obtained by students, after the application of a knowledge test, show that making digital music with the help of Sonic Pi corresponds to a theoretical and applied framework through which music theory can be learned applicatively, by primary education or older students alike.
