Summary/Abstract: This study is seeking to point out the general and specific patterns of hoards burial and non-recovery in peacetime and wartime by analysing the discovery of coin hoards from the Middle and Lower Danube in the period from Trajan to Aurelianus – a period that correspond to the Roman administration of the province of Dacia – when the Roman monetary system knew the longest period of a certain stability. In order to serve best the aim of this study the period of study was subdivided in chronological segments according to major historical events that took place on the area under study. Combining mapping of hoards by periods with the information from ancient authors and the context of discovery this study, a preliminary work on a larger research project on Roman Europe, will establish the impact of historical violent events on certain areas at certain time.
