Summary/Abstract: The personality of the Aromanian Ioan Caragiani (1841-1921), a Romanian politician and man of culture, can be known from his writings and from the testimonies of some politicians and people of culture of the time. He was an active member of the literary society Junimea, very appreciated by his fellow Junimists for the joviality and savory humor of his jokes. He was also passionate about folklore. He published ten poems in Convorbiri literare, the journal of Junimea. Although few in number, those folk poems were the first to be published in the Romanian press and paved the way for extensive further research.
